“This is the day which the Lord has made…” Psalm 118:24

7 November 2009 — This was the day the Lord made my boyfriend a Catholic! Yup, CATHOLIC!!!🙂

People go to Vegas to get married in a jiffy. We went to San Isidro Labrador Parish in Marikina to have him baptized in a jiffy.

As far as I know, a non-Catholic who wishes to convert to Catholicism should undergo the Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) before getting baptized. And that’s a long process. But that’s not the case in Marikina.

On 23 October 2009, we tried contacting Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Concepcion and San Isidro Labrador Parish in Greenland Village. The document San Isidro asked for was easy to obtain so we went there the next day to schedule his baptism. The priest just interviewed him after showing him his birth certificate.

We are not getting married soon (albeit we think we should reserve our wedding date because the church we REALLY want is VERY popular. Pressure!!! We still have to set the target date). He has yet to receive the other sacraments (Reconciliation/Penance, the Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation). Also, we did this without his family’s knowledge. Even if his parents already knew that he had plans of converting, we will wait for the right time to inform them about what we did. (Actually, his father has no problems with it because he was a Catholic and is a non-practicing Iglesia ni Cristo member).

We still have some things to deal with before tying the knot. Right now, we’re just so happy with his conversion.

P.S. My parents are his godparents, by the way. Hahaha!
